How To Adjust A Spectacle Frame
Most of us are aware how uncomfortable and niggling a pair of unbalanced spectacles can be. For you to see correctly, you might need to make some adjustments to your spectacle frames. This article provides a few guidelines that can help you accomplish this.

Start by looking at the frame carefully to observe how each part relates to the other. It is important to have proper knowledge of the settings of the frame before you begin to do anything. A hurriedly adjusted frame may get loosened or fall off within a short time.

After you have properly examined the frame, begin to gather the tools needed for the task. The common tools required for eyeglass frame adjustment include a flat-head screwdriver, needle-nose pliers and bonding glue.

The first task in the adjustment of spectacle frames is the rectification of the temple arms. Take your glasses off and place them on a flat table to see whether a temple arm is twisted. If they do not sit flat on the table, you need to adjust a temple arm. To do this on a metal frame, tenderly twist the lower temple arm upwards with the needle-nose pliers. To do this on a plastic frame, heat the lower arm with a warm air source, such as a domestic hairdryer, and then bend it gently upwards.

Now, adjust the earpieces until they sit properly. If they dig into the back of your ears or flare out too much, twist them by using the above technique. You can also bend your frame at the front to make it curve outward or inward so as to snug the earpieces comfortably at the back of your ears.

And lastly, fix the nose pads located in the inner middle part of the frame. These nose pads affirm where the glasses sit on your nose, and therefore, your face. If your frame sits very high on your face, the pads might be too close to each other and need to be moved away. If your frame sits too low on your face, turn the nose pads inwards to move your eyeglasses higher. In case your glasses sit too deep on one side than the other the nose pads may be off the center. To correct this problem, hold the middle part of the frame and turn the nose pads to bring them to the center.

Other repairs and adjustments can be done easily by turning screws with the screwdriver or moving lenses back into proper position. You should always remember to adjust your spectacle frames as gently as possible to avoid breaking them.
