How To Clean Your Spectacles?
Contact lenses have taken over spectacles in a major way. But, there are numerous people who still wear spectacles. If you are one of them, then it is important that you learn to keep your spectacles clean. Not many people make an effort to clean their glasses. This results in a shorter shelf life of specs and unnecessary damage. Thus, you must clean your spectacles on a daily basis. Here are a few tips that will help you with the same.

One of the simplest things that you can do to clean your spectacles is use a good quality microfiber cloth. Most people make the common mistake of using any ordinary cloth to clean their spectacles. However, this should be strictly avoided as normal fabrics contain wooden fibers. These wooden fibers can scratch the lens, leaving it damaged.

More than often, people use only water to clean their spectacles. Using water does help in cleaning the lenses, but it does not offer the thorough cleaning that you may be looking for. It is suggested that you use an alcohol based cleaning agent. Alternatively, you could even consider adding a few drops of liquid soap to the water. However, make sure that you rinse your spectacles well to ensure that there is no soap sticking on to the glasses.

Many a times, people tend to soak their spectacles in water overnight to remove any kind of dirt that may be sticking on to the lenses.  However, this should be strictly avoided especially if you are using specially coated lenses. Soaking your spectacles for long hours can completely remove or even damage the coating.

It is suggested that you use an antibacterial solution every now and then to clean your spectacles. The reason for the same being that we tend to adjust our specs with dirty hands. The bacteria from the hands then gets transferred to the lenses. Even when you clean the lenses, these bacteria tend to stick on and could some times lead to eye infection. Using an antibacterial solution for your spectacles every now and then will help get rid of the bacteria.

When it is about cleaning your spectacles, you need to make note of not just the lenses but the nosepads too. Generally, these nosepads are made of substance that is resistant to dirt or oil. However, sometimes the dirt particles may get clogged in the area between the nosepads and the frame. To remove these dirt particles, soak your specs in lukewarm water for a couple of hours. This will help loosen the dirt. Now using a soft brush, remove these dirt particles gently.

Keep your spectacles clean and ensure that they last for much longer.
